CAT ET Diagnostic Adapter the correct obd2 tool for Caterpillar Fuel Used Diagnosis

I was looking for Caterpillar fuel used diagnostic. I need it for heavy equipment, not trucks. I was having hard time searching for the Caterpillar adapter. Most of the CAT forum members said that, it needs a laptop computer, loaded with CAT ET (electronic technician) and a CAT Communications adapter (I or II) as well as the correct cable to connect to the vehicle. So I tried to Google “CAT ET adapter”, then it turns out this caterpillar diagnostic adapter, which is called CAT Caterpillar ET Diagnostic Adapter.

There is the saying in autonumen.com, “Cat ET Trainer is now included in ET Program. It allows Users to train and practice using Cat ET without a Communications adapter or Electronic Control Module (ECM).This is a free feature of Cat ET.”

Cat ET is the software based service tool which gives the service technician the capability to communicate and work with the electronic controls on Caterpillar products. I had heard before that there are 2 ET version, customer and dealer. It looks like this CAT ET diagnostic tool is more tend to the dealer. But I think this CAT diagnostic tool is for both customer and dealer.

I appreciated that the status screen allows the viewing of real time parameters by either using a predefined group or creating a custom group. And can help dealer identify problems without visiting machine. I can perform all diagnostic and calibrations with it. It will not let you flash ecm’s.

Functionalities show all operating conditions that cause high repair costs such as: over speeds, high temperatures, fuel consumption, transmission shift counts. This can provide awareness to change operator.

All in all, with this device there are three advantages:
1.Techniques resulting in lower machine operating and maintenance costs.
2. Tests are provided such as cylinder cutout and injector
3.Activation pressure to make problem locating easy.
